Every day was like a combat zone for the warehouse operations at kate spade. Challenged with the Advance Ship Notices, Carton Labeling, and Product Identification for some of the most demanding clientele on earth, kate spade identified Paramount Workflow Suite as “drop-in” solution that could provide customer compliance, fast, and could be integrated to their existing EDI translator. A Paramount Workflow Model was created for each of their major customers and a general Workflow Model was created for their Independent and Dotcom sales.
The original Paramount Workflow Suite consisted of 2 workstations with 2 users on each. In a matter of months the system “scaled” to 8 client workstations supporting near 20 held mobile computers (Motorola MT8050). Operators would scan and verify handbags directly from inventory and capture a unique carton ID as the carton was filled. Cartons were then pushed to Paramount Workflow Suite’s Shipment Broker where SSCC-18, Carrier (UPS/FedEx), were applied and scanned to awaiting shipments. Certain ASN transactions were sent directly from the warehouse floor due to the very close proximity of their customer’s DC.
Orders that needed to be held, or postponed, for customer routing instructions were scanned serialized, then locked and put-a-way, for eminent release. Verified and accurate data was presented to the host for Invoice and ASN creation and kate spade went on to add supply chain execution to their reputation for quality production.
